Bathing rats2007-11-24 21:58:20

Okay my two rats smell REALLY bad. I'm cleaning their cage really thurly in a second, but is it okay if I put them in my bath tub, [fill up the water a bit, warm water of course] and put them in there? Wash them, dry them and put them in their cage? Will they die ?

Answers:

They dont mine swiming in s**t down the sewer!

i don't know you could try wiping them with baby wipes
No they wont, rats are pretty hardy animals and can actually swim so it should be no problem.

Just keep and eye on them!

They won't die, but they WILL claw your arm up to get out. My rat Endigo bit me when i tried to bathe him. The bath will cause stress, and that could freak them out for a bit. Endigo WAS finally bathed, but afterwards he wanted nothing more than to sleep in front of the heater, which of course, I allowed him.

It won't kill them, just don't get water in their eyes, nose, or ears. It may cause infection.

Ok hear is what you, get the water warm and them you run the water over them dont get it in their eyes and then you use small animal shampoo DONT use human shampoo it is not good for them dont use human soap too, and also DONT get is in their eyes or ears (the shampoo) and the you rinse them off what I see that works good is when you pet the while they are under the water it comforts them if they dont like the water and then get a towl like right away or have it right next to you becuase rats can catch colds easy so you want make make sure they stay warm and just dry them off. I allways give mine and my brothers rats a bath before i change their bedding so their tank is nice and clean and so are they
