Gerbil
my gerbil just recently died, but i dont kno why. the day be4 he was running around and doing the stuff that he usually does, then the next morning he looked like he was dead. he wouldnt move and he had really shallow breathing. he could move alittle bit but not much. then the day after that happened he kept hiccuping. and he was even weaker and he couldnt move at all, then he died the next day. he wasnt that old, so i want to kno if anyone knows why he died. did he have a stroke?
Answers:Gerbs don't usually have strokes. They die from tummy tumors on their scent glands, old age, ear infections (reaches their brain), and usually respiratory infections. No way to know for sure but it sounds like yours had a respiratory infection.
When you find your pet in a state where they are not looking or acting healthy and something is wrong it's time to take them to a vet. If you check your gerbil several times a day you'll catch things in time to save them. Usually the first sign a sick gerbil shows is greasy messy ruffled looking fur.
I've had gerbils die from candles in the same room - apparently eucalyptus fumes are extremely toxic to gerbils and I had no idea having a candle nearby would do any harm.
If you decide to get another one at some point, set aside about $50 to take them to the vet if you see any sign of trouble. I'm so sorry about the lose of your gerbil. :(
I agree with the answer the pet shop where you bought it gve you!
I think he had a stroke it just happens and I'm so sorry I know how it feels
