Go back to Petsmart - tell them you understood these were pet rats and you cannot handle them and they bite. They should not have sold you these if they were not tame.

Rats hate everything, even rats. I mean, when you're half an inch tall what's there to like? Just sell them to some unlucky jerk and use the money to buy a lizard or something.

Rats don't know you apart from a predator yet. For all they know, you're a giant cat-creature, bringing them home to feed to your babies.

Like everyone else said, try hand feeding them. It will take a while for them to get used to you, though. Be careful when you handle them after you've been handling food - one of my rats bit a friend of mine's finger after he broke off a little piece to feed her. :)

I got my 2 rats from petsmart. They were the same. They need to acclimatise to there new surroundings as well as you. Don't forget, they have been taken from their home.

Offer them some food. If will not take, out it down in their cage. Stroke them gently and let them smell you. Never feed them through the bars, you will get bitten. They will come round and make fantastic little companions.

Give them time if you got picked up by a giant, put in a cage in some wack place, & people a million times bigger than you've never met tried to touch you, how would you feel? 8-D They will love you in time...just make sure to feed and water them...and a toy or 2 wouldn't hurt.

First of all, you should never handle a new rat for the first day, and then over the course of the next week or so, you should gradually start to hold them. If you are coming at them from above, you will scare them, and they will bite. Keep in mind, this is how birds would swoop down to pick them up.
