Petsmart isn't known for socializing rats, and you may have to eventually do forced socialization. To do this, use a towel to pick the rat up, and hold it in the towel for 20 full minutes. The concept behind this is that the fear reflex will not hold out for 20 minutes (most rats can hold out for 10 minutes, at most) and they will learn that they can trust you when you don't harm them in the 10 minutes they can no longer be in full panic mode.

Keep in mind that this is a process and some animals will never be fully socialized. Next time you get rats, PLEASE get them from a reputable breeder or rescuer. The extra money is worth it, I swear. Most breeders and rescuers take a lot of time to socialize and you'll notice a difference immediately.

Like any other animal they have to get use to you. Try putting food in ur hand then into the cage. Once they discover your hand brings food and no harm they will get use to you. Dont be discourage by their bitting its normal.

yea..after time they will like you, you have to be nice, my brother used to have one and it would bite me all the time but we took it out alot and it became friendly!!

The best way to get them to trust you is through their stomachs! It may sound silly but it's true. Try hand feeding them. Once they realize that you're the one who gives them food they will love you unconditionally if you continue to treat them right =).
