My hamsters mouth is bleeding
I have a Syrian hamster in a plastic cage. It's mouth is bleeding. I don't know what it ccould have done to cause it's bleeding. Everything in the cage is plastic except it's chew toys. What could I do about this?
Answers:vet
the plastic can cut too... any sharp edges.
call a vet

Put pressure on it if you can. A paper towel or a washcloth that is dampened.
When the bleeding stops, do an oral exam and see what you can see. He did this in his cage so examine each toy to see if there is a sharp edge or something that pinched him and GET Rid of it. Geez, Louise. What more could you have done? A plastic cage!
I hope he will be okay. They are pretty tough.
take the hamster to a vet as soon as possible or if the toy is making the hamster bleed take it alway.
The problem is...Overgrown Teeth
If your hamsters teeth are overgrown you will notice a lack of appetite, sore mouth area and possible bleeding, if this happens the teeth could become so long they pierce into the brain. If the teeth are over grown your vet will need to clip them. To prevent this ensure you offer plenty of gnawing material such as untreated wood.
may have just cut it's gums a bit, nothing to worry about unless it won't stop bleeding or if he stops eating or drinking.
Hamsters have teeth that continuously grow unless they can gnaw them down on something. Is that the problem? Maybe the hampster bit something and it cut it's mouth. Is the hamster lethargic or is it up and moving around?
Step on it, put it out of its misery? Actually, how badly is it bleeding? If not too, let it heal. They aren't gonna have his type in the OR, so you don't want him to lose too much. lol. Sorry, I realize this is your pet, and I am trying to be helpful for your sake, I just don't much like little rodents, or rats. As I say though, if it's not a deep wound, mouths usually heal fastest of any injured area on an animal, human animals, too. Snakes and fish are the exceptions I know of, but the rule almost universally applies to mammals. If not severe, try to look in its cage for the blood evidence on whatever caused the injury, and remove the item. Blood should be on what cut its mouth, the law of transfer applies to more than forensic collection guidelines.
maybe it has gingivitis you should go to the vet and see about that. they could probably give you medicine for that.
well if it constenly bleedin take it to a vet quick if you see a bit of blood drop and no more switch cage and dont give him to toys if he still bleedin then take him in vet could be a disease
