My hamsters play fight a lot2007-11-24 22:13:29

i have had my hamsters for about a week now. my two dwarf hamsters play fight a lot. im afraid that they might turn aggressive as they grow older. is that possible? what should i do to avoid it?

Answers:

Are they males or females? Are they siblings? They are probably "fighting" to order dominance. They should settle down within a few weeks. It's nothing to worry about unless you see blood, then you obviously need to separate them.

Sometimes even dwarves don't get along and need to be separated.

I have two female hamsters. They went through the SAME thing! They ended up close to death (one of them!). They are sisters and they were young. But, one time we came home and we saw that one of them had a bloody eye. It was from the other hamster. They were fighting. Please, seperate them now. My hamsters are seperated now, and they are very happy. I hope that you do the same!

it is best to have one hamster per cage cuz these play fights will only last so long then the fights get worse and worse till one or both gets hurt or killed...

My hampsters used to get along until one just killed the other. Then I found out they are NOT supposed to be housed together. They will kill each other!
