can hamsters fake death?

Answers:

They are good at it my son has one and I went to toch it the other day and I really was convinced it was dead he just did not move at all no matter how much I poked at him so I picked him up ready to tell my son he's dead and he springs to life.I'm convinced they do play dead or atleast it seems that way.

Hamsters can go into a state called estivation; it's like hibernation, only a reaction to heat instead of cold. It was an advantage to their wild ancestors living in very hot desert environments. It sounds like that may be what she did.
