My little minnie is going bald2007-11-24 22:13:32

Well Minnie (My teddy bear hamster) is a total joy> I have had her for about two years now and i have grown sooo attatched to her. Just recently I started noticing that she has started to get a bald patch by her bottom and that her tail is pretuding more. I dont know if its because she is getting old or if its an illness.Does anyone know what this means?

I would recommend taking your hamster to a vet. This could be deadly! But, until you get an appointment Minnie, keep checking on her and make sure that the cage is clean! Also, I would recommend using Carefresh bedding, just, if you don't use it already!

Mites or allergies. vet!

this could possibly be mites. mites is a condition where your pet can be very uncomfortable and the area is very itchy. the more your pet itches the more hair your hamster will lose. i suggest that you buy a mite or lice spray from your local pet shop.spray this on the effected area once a day and your hamster should be feeling great in no time! dont worry about the hair it will grow back shortly. Take Minnie to the vet she may be sick and the vet can give you antibiotics to fight the parasites that may be making her ill.
