My hamster (billy) loves to bite fingers.How to stop him from doing so?

Naughty Hamster.

He is biting because he feels threatened or scared by you, so you need to gain his trust. Never wake him. This will garentee a bite, they are nocturnal and need lots of sleep through the day, so only handle him when he is awake and alert.

Dont grab him from above. hamsters are partially blind so rely on sound, smell and movements. A hand coming from above is a sign of attack. he may well bite you for this to. so hold your hand out flat, with a little treat in the middle of it, and let him approach you instead.

Handle him every eveing ( when he has woken up) the more he is handled, the more social he will become. also, if you have'nt already, get a hamster exercise ball, it will be a great way for him to interact with you, and a great form of exercising too.

Let him feed from your hand every day, and gradually you will win his trust. Male hamsters are more laid back than the females so this should not be to difficult to do.

I have had my male syrian hamster a year and he has never bitten, I promise yours will be the same soon.

be gentle with him, dont rush take it slowly as they are not very good at seeing and rely on smell and touch. talk to him and reasure him, offer him food from your hand so that he gets used to you=good.
