My mom says I cant have a new guinea pig and I really want one What do I do2007-11-24 22:13:37

Lately, I've been having the guinea pig blues. My mom has made it clear that after Mork and Mindy die, (they're our dogs) we are having NO more pets. And we are having no more pets until they die. I am going to die if I can't have one! How do I stop thinking about it and finally get it through my head that "no" means 'no?'

Answers:

Mom makes the rules and thats that. Your mom may not want to get attatched to another animal, or maybe she just doesnt want to deal with the responsability or vet bills.

I do not know your age, but if you are an older teen, maybe she is looking at the fact that you may be moving out of the house in a few years and will have enough expenses with college and getting our own place that a pet may not be the best thing.

When you are 18, and able to move out and have your own place, then you get to make the rules. You will be able to get a pet then.

If you know someone with piggies, maybe you can offer to pig-sit while they are on vacation or something.

Sounds like you still have the dogs around.. so enjoy them while you can!

well lately i have been having the same feeling but u could convince her but best way to get it out of youre mind is to plan things join a club or a sport so you dont have time to think about it :)

Just play with Mork and Mindy while they're still here! When they die, you'll miss them, so instead of sulking about a guinea pig, play with your dogs! I'm sure that they want attention, too!

you could always try and volunteer at a rescue? see if theres any guinea pig rescues in your area? or maybe work really hard for your mother. be really good. and ask her that if you pay for all the supplies? then could you get one? sometimes parents love it when you take the initiative and try to do things on your own their alittle bit more easy going? well give it a try and good luck : D

If it's absolutely impossible to get one, just consider all the pains of having a guinea pig anyway.

Speaking from experience, cleaning disgusting cages is a drag, getting woken up at 6 in the morning from squeals for a carrot is unpleasant, having to spend an hour or two with them each day playing gets boring, and they poop and pee on you all the time.
