My pregnant guinea pig is breathing heavil
my guinea pig is pregnant and shes breathing heavily is this normal
Answers:Yes, when you increase the weight on the animal, its gonna labor any system in the body...ie respitory, circulatory...etc. So this is normal and the guinae pig is fine.
she may be in labor...keep an eye on her or just get her to a vet
first of all, how far along is she? she could be in labor. just watch out for her and be sure shes ok. animals are like humans when theyre pregnant - they tire easily. but most likely shes either just movin around too much and too fast or shes in labor..take her to the vet!
No I do not think it is normal. How close is she? Have you noticed a drop in appetite levels? What is her movement like? Anything else you can give me in regards to information would be greatly appreciated as I may be able to give you a better answer.
I would book an appointment with an exotic vet, guinea pigs go downhill quickly so it is important to get in as soon as possible. If she is in her later stages of pregnancy try not to handle her as much. If you can not get an appointment anywhere talk to the vet and ask her/him for advice.
Being pregnant puts an enormous amount of pressure on the sows organs and blood system, the chance that something will go wrong during the pregnancy is somewhere like 90%. You need to moniter her carefully, if she has not eaten or drunk for about 8 hours then start handfeeding her. You should also be feeding her a high vitamin c diet, you can get some chewable vitamin c supplements to get this head started. I will give you a series of links that may be of help.
Have emergency vet numbers on hand, and keep a CLOSE, CLOSE eye on her! She may be in labour!
She's either getting ready to give birth, dehydrated, or hot... If she doesn't give birth within the next day, take her to the vet and have her checked out
It is not normal, you should really make an appt. with an exotics vet, threre could be another reason for this.
It's never wise to breed pigs for this reason, it's dangerous for the mother.
Hope your pig will be ok.
