My rabbit is pregnant and i though she was due today, i went to her hutch 1/2 hour ago and there was water blood on the hutch floor. this is her first pregnancy and she is wandering around the cage so i think shes going to give birth. my question is do they normally bleed before they give birth or is there something wrong? and how long after the blood will it take to give birth? thanks!

Yes shes having babies , you must LEAVE her alone you are just stressing her out by keep checking her. if you stress her out to much she could eat her babies or just leave them scattered all around the cage and disown them then they will die!Check her again in the morning she should of made a nest and put them in there its best not to disturb the nest as again this risks her abandoning them. If you must peek you must first rub your hands in the mothers urined sawdust so you dont leave your scent on the nest or she could think your a predator and eat them!!

No its probably ok. Just stay by her side or check on her alot. If she doesnt give birth in a few hours take her to a vet. She should be fine. its probably means a baby is coming out within the next hour. Good luck! Keep us posted on how she is doing.

Yes my rabbit has had three..she's going into labor..she will wander around & then pull out some fur to have them in. but be careful dont handle them alot when their little!O & shell be fine...

Probably the next few hours or so, you need to keep an eye on her, one of my chinchilla babies died because she had the embryonic sac wraped on her face.

Can you see the whole cage? She probably has had them, and they are hid somewhere. They blood is just from the birth probably.

yes it is fine. she might have a had a little blood when her water broke. it can be from 1/2 hour to 5 hours. make sure she is inside and you should be watching her to make sure they come out alright! goood luck!

You could call a vet and ask someone there .. they would be sure to know...

leave her alone to get on with it the more you check her the more stress you cause her, which may kill her or she will eat the babies like most nerviouse mums do.
