My sis is getting a hamster is it better to put that bedding hamster fluff cotton stuff all over2007-11-24 22:13:02

people say its better im confused?!?!?!

what i do i but pine bedding on the bottom and carefresh (cooton bedding stuff) sprinked on top to give color and to hold back smell. it works great for me. them i but night e night bedding in his hut to sleep in. good luck!

People prefer having wood shreddings or those with baking soda formula, less odor, soft and cuddly for their hamster. I used sand, because my hamster loves to dig.

Do NOT use pine or ceder bedding, it causes respiritory problems. i would use CareFresh bedding , then put the cotton fluff in a wad in one corner, it will use it to make a bed.good luck!

I would recommend you stick with the paper/cotton-type bedding for hamsters (either white or natural)

I had a bad experience and lost a mouse when I used the pine stuff, which can carry mites.

I use this kind called cellsorb or something like that. I used to use the fluffy stuff. The carefresh kind of fibery though so if you have dust allergies, I probably wouldn't use that. No pine! Pine isn't good for any rodent I'm supposing. It can irritate skin and cause respiratory problems.

You can use Aspen Shavings or another product called Carefresh, neither of these are known to cause illnesses in Hamsters.

If you are going to buy fluffly soft stuff, get it from the Pet Store, and make sure it is made for Hamsters. This will ensure that it is safe for your Hamster. Mine only uses the cotton stuff to make his nest, mostly he just has Aspen chips in his cage,

You can but ~I get the paper stuff that`s really soft and put that othe bottom and then the fluff for the nest. I dont use woodshavings because m hammy died of an eye infection from getting some in his eye. good luck an have fun with tha hammy. Im here if you need to ask any more questions. Well... bedding is good but you can use bedding and cotton. Just put a hand full of cotton or some cut up cloth your hamster can use the cotton or cloth to make its bed. I use bedding if i were you. =)

it pretty dangrous using fluffy cotton because if they put them in their pouches it could stick in use aspan it safe

no use Super Shavin's sold at petsmart, just remember they stuff everything in their pouches.
