My sisters hamster chewed its foot off because it got stuck in somthing, will it be ok2007-11-24 22:13:04

please dont say she takes bad care of them, she takes wonderful care of them, but the hamster just got its foot stuck in its wheel and got scared so she chewed it off, the hamster doesnt seem like it is in any pain at all, it has not lost its appetite. since it lost its foot and walks just fine, so do you think it will be ok? (btw she got rid of the wheel)

This happens quite often...just keep it clean as possible because i am assuming that she stays in a cage which she also uses the bathroom in, so clean it 3 times a day with peroxide, and put neosporin on it, and if possible cover it with a bandage. Smart move getting rid of the wheel

I would go to the doctors if i chewed my foot off:)

Oh that remainds me of when i had 3 hamsters and they ate each other up.two of the heads were on the floor of the cage that was so disgusting.wow i guess these animals do that...i guess it will be okay...do they grow new feet or will he only have 3 now.they are wiered animals...

Good thing she got rid of the wheel! lol! As long as it is not bleeding badly. Also if it has a good appetite and is walking fine I think it should be okay! Pretty smart hamster!
