I just got a black bear hamster, female, and I am wondering is it normal for her to sleep behind her wheel in a corner? I just want to make sure she isnt dead. I tried blowing on her and she just layed there.
Answers:she is probaly tired thats why she is staying asleep when you blow on her, and all my friends hamsters sleep behind the wheel, but you should think about getting one of those igloo beds hamsters like those much better because if there is a thunder storm and they are scared they usally like to hide in there here is a link to what i am talking about:

well try to touch her and yes they love sleeping by thier weels and in corrneres be shure to feed her right let her run in her balll and good luck
Well if you see her belly inflate and deflate than she's alive. If it's just rock solid and doesn't even flinch when you blow her,you may want to take her out and take a close look.
they do sleep there but . . . if she is not breathing she is dead pick her up and move her or some thing maybe she is just sleeping it could b posible tho she could b dead
she is fine. my sons sleeps in her wheel.
watch her belly and see if she is breathing if it dose not look like she is breathing..move her! It is normal for hamster to like sleeping in corners.
Hamsters sleep pretty much anywhere! One of mine went through a couple of weeks where she put bedding in her wheel and slept there.
Well, hamsters will sleep in a place they feel safe and secure. If you didn't provide it with a hamster house, then I guess she feels safe there. When did you try blowing on her? Hamsters are nocturnal. Check if she's okay tonight.
Hamsters often nest in the strangest places. Mine sometimes will make a nest undernesth the ramp to the second story. Do you have a hide out for her? If there is no hideout in the cage and just a wheel, food, and water, she may not have anywhere else to sleep. However, if you do have a place for her to hide, make sure she knows where it is.
