New guinea pigwater

New guinea pigwater2007-11-24 22:13:10

We got a new guinea pig about 24 hrs ago. I've read everything I can find online about what she should n shouldnt eat, play with etc..She's eating fine and seems to be a happy piggy. My only concern is water. The water level in the bottle doesnt seem to have moved. Even after her 'floor time' (exercise/play) in a large pen with a different water bottle she didnt drink. How much do piggys drink? Do they need specially treated water? Should I be worried or is she possibly still settling in?

Answers:

I wouldnt be to concerned. Are you feeding him vegi's and fruits? Guinea Pigs get a lot of there water need from their food. The important thing is that you have it available to him at all times.

It could also just being adjusting to his new home. I think everything will be fine but def. keep an eye on him. Good Luck with your new guinea pig they are the best!

Just make sure that the water bottle is at the right level. Then let him be. DO NOT put anything in the water! It may not look like they are drinking very much, but chances are that they are. If you are giving wet veggies, they get a lot of water that way too. Give her time, you'll both get used to things. Good Luck
as much as they whant:)
i agree with rachel P. they do get most of there water from fruits & veggies.its only been 24 hours so it might take a while for him/her to really get comftorble & understand that this is his home & this is were he lives now.
If you give her veggies then she will be fine but tap the spout of the bottle with your finger to make sure the water is coming out.
Well...
