Normal re: female rat
One of girls has started peeing on me, like a male who is marking his territory- this is new for her- she's 8 months old.
Is it normal, or is their something like a bladder infection going on? Could it be because I got a new girl a few weeks ago, and just did introductions?
None of my other girls do this, none have ever done this. One male nearing three has started doing it as well- he's never done it before either.
Answers:Yes, yes, yes, and yes.
If you and her have a close relationship, she is telling the other girls that you are hers and hers alone. She's just reestablishing you as part of her territory. The peeing should subside as the relationship between your present girls and the new girls gets stronger.
Blood in the urine is the first sign of a bladder infection.
Incontinence is not uncommon in old rats. I might have a homeopathic remedy that will help with this but you need to rule out the beginning of hind-end paralysis which afflicts some old male rats.

"my life has gone to the rats"
its because of your new girl, this could be stress and anxiety,or marking territory.are they doing it over her smell,if you just held her 1st,or is it anytime.my ferrets did the same when other ferrets were about, they stopped but it was anoying as i didnt like pee,as i enjoyed them being with me.mayb give the cages are real good clean and put the new one in last so the others retain there position, unles they are being mean.ask your vet,
theyre just expressing dominanace, saying this is my mum and you have to ask me first
the reason its not your alpha is because your alpha is feeling safe and secure in that position
your beta to omegas however dont want their positions usurped by this new girly hence the dominance factor comes into play
the male nearing three however is a different situation, him id get to the vet as soon as , 3 is a grand old age and to suddenly start peeing could be the sign of a kidney or bladder problem, and that needs sorting sooner rather than later
All of my rats have dribbled, this is their way of marking their trail and environment. No worries, it generally doesn't smell. Look for colored urine if there's an infection.
