Now that I know about the teeth, how do I keep her from chewing the cage
Now that I know about the teeth, how do I keep her from chewing the cage2007-11-24 22:13:14
My hamster has so many things to chew on in her cage, it isn't even funny. For some reason, she like chewing the plastic cage better. Is it ok for her to chew the cage? If not, any idea on how to make her stop?
Answers:Although it is unhealthy for a hamster to chew on plastic, there is not much you can do to stop her (which is why plastic cages generally aren't the best for hamsters). Be sure to let her out of her cage to play with her a lot - sometimes chewing can be a symptom of a bored hamster. Make sure you have a wheel large enough for her to run on, nesting and burrowing material, climbing structures, etc.
This is why I dont like hampsters! haha. Theres nothing you can do as far as I know! She's gunna do what she wants!
In the 'WILD',hamsters need to chew on hard er objects to wear down their ever-growing incisor teeth.
My hamster does the same thing. But when I bought her a bunch of mineral bites shapes, and different flavors, she seemed to chew on that instead of the cage. Try toys with hidden food they seem to like that. Also, I find helpful is hiding food throughout her cage instead of putting in a bowl.
Yes, it is fine if your hamster chews on the cage, nothing will happen. If you would like her to stop buy her wooden blocks at a pet store that is made for chewing on.
this is what they do.
