OK i just bought 2 boy and girl golden hamsters and now i want to know when will the babies be pop i2007-11-24 22:13:16

and also i put them in a 2 cages that are conected by a long tube. they also have many place to sleep. they are also golden hamsters. the boy is larger then the girl and they seem to try to stay away from each other but the like each other.

Well, first give them like 3 or 4 days tops to get used to each other, because they can't just mate right on the spot. And eventually they'll mate. and then the mother gets bigger, depending on how many babies she will have. (usually 3-6)

Also, for the mother to give birth it will take about 1-3 weeks. Sometimes longer. And it is best if you feed the parents alot. Because if they run out of food, they will eat thier babies. ((Gross, huh?))

So keep that in mind and you will have the happiest hamsters in the world =)

Oh and one more thing, it is best if you don't touch the babies until 6 weeks old.
