Ok so this is my story:

I wanted a guinea pig so my mom let me get one. We were planning to get one from Petco but then we found out about a guinea pig that one of our friends were giving away because they were moving. The guinea pig is a one year old female all brown abyssian. She wasnt exactly abused but she sat ina small rabbit hutch(outside, even in the winter), no one handled her, and she only got food and water every day and thats it. Her bedding was changed every week. Dont ask me how they got it. I was wondering if anyone could tell me EVERYTHING that I need to know to make my piggies life a lot better that it was plus all of the care that she needs...

Cage:

Pet store cages are wayy to small and completely unsuitable for guinea pigs. C&C (Cubes and Coroplast) cages are the best, you can choose on making them open or inclosed, 1 level or several levels. It all comes down to how creative you are! C&C cages are easy to make with all of the instructions on the following site:

Bedding:

Aspen has no aromatic-oils and is generally easy to maintain, it is however quite expensive. I place newspaper underneath the aspen so that it makes cleaning time easier. Carefresh is ok, although it has be known to cause respiratory problems in some guinea pigs. Pine and cedar need to be avoided, although the more expensive Kiln dried Pine is ok.
