Ok i want a hamster but i dont know if its the right pet for me I have been doing some reserch on th

still not sure! My baby(my dog) Biscuit just died and she was mine. And i had her for my 7th birthday present. But i need to know is if they are a handful! And when they bit you does it hurt like everyone says it does? Please help me!!!!!!

Hamsters make brilliant pets!

Some are nippy by nature though. these tend to be the smaller breed such as the russian or chinese hamsters. The best breed to get would be the Syrian (teddybear/goldern) hamster. They are the largest of the breeds and comein a wonderful array of colours, Ginger being the nost common. Let me tell you, the syrian breed are incredibly laid back, and are slower than the smaller hamsters which makes handling, petting and stroking far easier. You can build a wonderful bond with the right hamster.

Dont be scared about the biting. If handled in the correct manner, a hamster should not bite ( also, males are more relaxed in nature than females) I have had my gorgeous fatty gingerball 14 months and he has never ever bitten. He comes out every evening for a run around and a play, he responds to hearing his name, and often falls to sleep next to me on the sofa!

The one thing to bear in mind is hamsters are nocternal, it is never advised to wake them from their sleep. this will garentee a bite. So its night time only you will be able to play. Also, hamsters dont live as long as your dog. the average age is between 2-3 years, so getting attatched and loosing a pet so soon can be difficult.
