Ok im breeding golden hamsters when should i take the mother out if i got them 4 days ago2007-11-24 22:13:58

I WANT TO BREED them so don't waist your time telling me not to.

Answers:

Golden Hamsters will fight with other Golden Hamsters.

If you put them together and they fight, she's not in heat yet.

Wait 2 days, and put them together again.

You need a seperate cage for the male, he will eat the babies.

You need seperate cages for all the babies. Finding them homes is next to impossible, and pet stores won't take them.

Good luck with breeding, next time we hear from you, you will be butt deep in baby hamsters no one wants!

People told you in your previous questions, DON'T breed them!! You just got them, from what I can tell, they are your first hamsters. What are you going to do with the babies? Are you planning on giving them to the pet store? What if they don't take them? Are you planning on giving/selling them? What if you can't find any one in your area who wants a hamster? What if you breed hamsters that shouldn't be bred, and end up with sick or injured pups? WHAT IF you don't have a single clue about breeding hamsters, and you just want to do it anyway? What if you have no book, or info or advice on raising hamsters, and you do it anyway? What if you are relying on the quick advice from people on the Internet, that you probably won't listen to anyway? HMmmmm?? Huh? So? Now, think about that some more.

Where are the babies going to go after? They cannot stay in the Mother's habitat so make sure you have adequate amentities for the babies. Also, there are many sanitation and medical things you need to know before (or ASAP) about newborn mammals of any kind. Please, be careful. I understand your enthusiasm with animals but treat them well! Do research, please.

First, you'll need to seperate them right now. I mean, go to the store RIGHT NOW and get another cage. They don't want to be near each other besides mating.

Seeing as how you just got these hamsters, they're probably very young. If they did however mate successfully, the female will have babies 18 days after they mated. Most likely she will kill all or most of them (since she's so young). Maybe if you had done REAL research before you got into this situation, you wouldn't have to deal with the bloody mess that is going to happen in 3 weeks. Good luck with that.
