Omg help my poor lil robo2007-11-24 22:14:06

her silent spnnier wheel she has has it for bout 2weeks now and she loves it but she is running and she cant seem to get a good grip on wheel and we just cleaned it 2 dayds ago.she makes a 360 like 5 times in a row and then goes flying off and once her right eye was closed a lil.what the heck is wrong with her and what i do!!please help!!

Do not buy her a metal wheel.

Rewash the wheel, but only in water with no soap. Dry it very carefully and put it back in to see if she does any better. When she is not in the wheel, or flying out of it, is she walking and acting normally? She may have hit her eye or the area around her eye. Make sure it opens again and is clear and bright. I had a plastic partially enclosed wheel that my dwarf hammies used to run in, and they would occassionally jump out (I think on purpose) and land in piles of bedding.

Also, where does it spin from? Does it have a spindle in the middle? You could try spraying the spindle with a tiny bit of Pam - it is not harmful to the hamster if she licks at it. We did this for all my hamsters because it allows the wheel to spin more freely and with less resistance, which is important because dwarf hamsters weigh so little.

For now you should take the wheel away until you know what to do. What kind of wheel do you have? Maybe you could buy a new one that would be better. By type, I mean metal, plastic and what kind of grip the wheel has.

If she is bleeding out fo her mouth or nose she has internal injuries and will most likely need to be put down.

i dont know whats wrong with your hamster i have one too try taking the wheel out and see if she still loses her balance. if she does then maybe she is sick did u get from petstore? if so i would contact them and ask them what the problem is they should know.

I would recommend getting your hamster a new wheel. I think that since you cleaned it, It might be a little splipply for your hamster. i had a silent spinner and my gerbil would always fly off of it. u should get a new wheel because silent spinners are slippery and they break easily.

What I would suggest is to get a wheel called Wodent wheel. It has a solid back and the front is covered too. It has 3 or 4 mouse hole shaped doors. this might prevent her from flying out.

She seems to be enjoying it, and with the soft bedding she must not be getting hurt.

Still, a Wodent Wheel is safer.

You can buy them on line. do a search for Wodent Wheel.

I think you should buy a wheel that is harder to spin, like a metal one, and not plastic.
