please help me i am so scared cause my hamster can't open it's eye

Answers:

You can use a q-tip and warm water, gently wash the eye using the q-tip to wipe away the gunk.

You can do this daily, couple times a day until it clears up. You could also add a drop of terramycin antibiotic but you'll have to get it from your vet or a feed store.

I just use warm water and a q-tip for about 2-4 days and its usually gone.

You should bring your hamster to the vet.

It may be something simple, like a piece of bedding in it's eye, but it may be serious, like a respiratory infection that only a vet can treat.

Better to be safe and see the vet.

Treat this ASAP! Don't do the same mistake I did. My old hamster had the same problem and I felt so sad and sorry for it every time it woke up with trouble searching for its food, water, etc. I wanted to do something about it, but I didn't have the time and money to take it to the vet. I feel guilty about it since he just passed away last month...but he didn't die from the eye problem. He lived to the ripe old hamster age of 3 years. Take your hamster to the veterinarian to ensure a good life for your hamster if you have the time.

This has happened to a few of my little guys. There might be a caking along the eye slit that's closed. I used a soft tissue (not a paper towel) that I wet with warm water and softly stroked along the eye to remove the caking. They tend not to like this, so I wouldn't use anything that could poke them in the eye as they squirmed. You will probably have to repeat this a few times. Be gentle because they don't really have any idea of what you're trying to do and may get a bit aggressive in trying to keep you away from hurting them. With the little guys you have to put yourself in their place and figure out how YOU would feel if this giant came along and tried to do something strange to YOU, even though you'd have no real reason to mistrust this giant. Their instincts are still wild and protective. Try speaking to the hamster in a soft voice, calling his/her name and making comforting sounds. This may help. Perhaps if you pet him/her a little before starting the procedure, he/she will get accustomed to feeling your touch at that moment. If you've never played with your hamster before, though, this is not the time to start. They must have your confidence first. And don't worry. Your little guy will be all right.

everytime that happened with mine, i always opened it for them. i took mythumb and pointer and pulled it open. it usually happened after they sleep and couldn't open it. but if that doesnt work, you can try taking a small piece of wet towel, and rub it on the eye multiple times until he opens it.

There might be some sleep or something in its eye. wash ur hands and gently move ur finger over the lid of his eyes. if u look close u might be able to see what is in his eyes and focus on that area

If there is any goo I have a remedy for that from the vet. It was for my cat but i guess it should work for your hamster too. Dissolve salt in warm water and clean the eye three times a day. I used cotton wool and I never dipped the used cotton wool back in the container so the container could be used for next time. If you are unsure you could do what i did and call the vet and speak with the nurse there.
