One guinea pig to little2007-11-24 22:13:18

Hey there,

I have bought one guinea pig a few months ago.and she often makes this heavy peeping noise. is it a sign of lonelyness and should I get a mate for her...or do they also breed as fast as rats??..plz if anyone can help just help me.

Thanx

It would be a good idea to get her a play mate. You could get another girl so there is no worry about breeding.

If this is not practical then make sure you give her loads of attention so she doesn't get lonely. They love to sit on laps and be petted so why not let her in the house while you are watching tv.

you should get another female. guinea pigs are social animals so chances are she'll love her new friend
you should get her a female pig so that you dont have that problem. guinea pigs dont like being alone
Don't get another female! they'll eat each other alive. I was in preschool once, came in from recess, and golly! There was blood everywhere!
Your guinea pig should get a friend. As long as you get one of the same gender, then they will not breed. The other option is to get one of a different gender, and neuter/spay it (fix it). If they are a mixed sex pair, then operating on the male is the cheapest and safest option. It usually cost between 20-60 dollars, but having a mixed sex pair fight less and are easier to introduce.
