One of my rats got loose how do i get it back alive2007-11-24 22:13:21

it got lose in my trailer. i saw it about an hr ago. i can't catch it. i know when a hamy gets loose you soak a towel in apple juice and put some apple slices at the bottom of a bucket with the towel hangin in the bucket alittle. but won't my rat just jump out or tip over my bucket?

Answers:

don't use glue traps, they get stuck and gnaw off their paws to get loose. is it a pet rat, or do you use it for snakefood? if it is a pet rat, it should be tame enough, for you to be able to catch it, and pick it up. take a big box, put some avocado slices, or peanut butter in the back and wait for the rat to investigate. once it is inside, turn the box upright and cover it.

Try laying down some Glue traps...with some peanut-butter in the Middle.

thats a tough one. maybe you could try putting some food out like her favourite type and try louring her to it wen u see her. if she is tame enough then maybe she will come to you or at least back to its cage when she is hungry enough. im sorry to say but if she isnt tame then she may not come back especially if she is outside. :( all the best :)

Well, set out her cage where she can get to it easily with plenty of food and water in it. Rats are smarties, so it'll be hard to trick her into getting caught. But eventually, she'll get hungry and thirsty. Also, her cage is home to her so she should want to go into it when she's tired. :/ Good luck with this, I hope your rat comes home.

My rat got out about a month ago and what i did was sit on top of my bed and wiat for him to cross the miidle of the floor and watched where he went then went to get him and also the cage idea is a good one.

try calling it - and maybe also lie still or do something interesting and maybe it will come to you
