Pet mouse has a tumour - im very upset How best can I deal with this I dont want to get another mous

I went into a petshop about 1 yr ago & saw a mouse free 2 a good home, the previous owner moved & left it behind. An estate agent went in the property & found him there with no food/water then took him straight to the pet shop. So, I decided I would care for him. I have not had a mouse before, only pet fish, & had no experience of looking after one. A few months ago I had a run in with my landlord & was forced to get rid of him which I really didn't want to do but had no choice. I didn't want him to go to a stranger so a friend of mine from college had him, & everything was fine until last week she gave him me back (i don't live in the same place so it's fine to keep him) But he is very poorly, he developed a tumour and the vet today told me he has about 2 weeks to 2 months left & he should be put to sleep when he gets poorly. I don't want him to suffer & have accepted I'll have 2 take him but how can I deal with losing him? I have pet fish but when they die it's not the same!

I'm so sorry about your little mouse. I hate mouse tumours. They're far more often unremovable than rat tumours are. (I keep both species.)

I also have a little mouse (female, 1yr 4mo old) right now who I will have to make the euth. decision for sometime soon. Her tumour is on her right thigh. The sad thing is, she loooves running in her wheel, and now this horrible lump is starting to make that difficult for her. :(
