Pet rats
I have a pet rat that I have had for about a week now, what a great little animal, I've never owned one before. I was wondering if i should get her a friend or is she ok by herself ?
She comes out of her cage everyday, and gets to play, she is not that big yet, also how big will she get, she is just a rat, that I got from a pet store who would have been snake food. She is also handtamed.
Answers:She is ok by herself as long as you play with her. If you get her a friend make sure to quarantine it before introducing them. Also get her a "girl' friend because rats go into heat every five days and can have 20+ babies a month if you let them. There is already a pet rat overpopulation problem, please don't add to it.
yes i would recommend getting her a friend... but only of the same sex!! there was a hoarder lady, who rescued two rats or opposite sexes and ended up with a 120 rats! ewww... so get another female! make sure you introduce them properly so that they become friends. best of luck! and rats are great pets!
my husband and i have also recently bought a pet rat, whom im holding right now!
our first one too.
she is amazing.
i have heard that they can die from being lonely, just like many other little animals
my husband and i are going to buy her a cage mate tomorrow.
and also, im not too sure how big they get, but i know at 6 months they're bigger than a large potato(best descrpitoin lol)
