my gerbil is very spunky. and today i took him out of his cage to put him in his playpen.and when i usually pick him up he is all jumpy and trying to figure a way out but todAY he just sat there in my hand. and when i put himin his playpen, he just layed in the tube. (i know they lay in there cause its comfy) but he usually is climbing on toys but he was just not himself.

What is wrong or is this normal? what can i do? (not including a 25$ trip to the vet plz! cause i already know that lol)

Maybe he's just calmer today.

In truth, you're probably worrying too much. One downside of loving your pet. Hell, earlier i watched my rat closely for 30 mins, cos he had 3 little sneezes in a row. What did I get for my attention? A load of scratches on ne neck from him sitting there, thinking i was being generous holding him so soon after last time.

Seeing he's so friendly today, take the time and check him over. Are his eyes bright? Look inside his ears, do they look clean? Check his coat over, feel his body, make sure there's no lumps or bumps. Listen to him breathe, does it sound gaspy? Look at his droppings, are they runny or anything?

So long as all of the above is ok, and he's walking normally, he's probably perfectly fine. Give him some cucumber or something as a treat.

If any of the above isn't OK, or he seems quiet still in 48 hours, then pay the vet the $25, and put your mind at ease. In truth, it's probably nothing.

How old is Gerbal? Look into his eyes and see if there is any sign such as starring or no response to light, ..if you love the guy the 25 dollars is worth it.

mayb hes sick think about what you fed him like was any veggies or fruits kinda wierd or somethin? ohhh noooo this is NOT normal

i dont know...maybe he ate something that made his...i dunno, hormones different or something. maybe he's just feeling emotional cuz he missed you or something hurt his feelings.

is he eating if he is ...maybe his just sleepy give him a day by himself and see

Are you sure he's a HE? Maybe she/he is preganant. When gerbil's are expecting they get tired and don't want to move around as much. If he is a he then I don't know.

Ring up the vet tell them whats wrong and that your concerned and ask them what they think then go from there?

Believe it or not, get him a catnip toy made for cats.
