Piggy eye help
Hello,
My piggy is 6 months old, it has been with me for about 2 weeks. Over the past few days a Grey ring like circle has appeared around it's eye, just before the eyelid.
The other eye is fine, looks normal. I am wondering if I should take it to the vet. He was sneezing a few hours ago. I tried to take a photo of it but he really did not like the camera!

Bactrim or Baytril is generally given for URI's. URI are very serioud and must be treated fast!
If it isn't eye crust and is almost scaly looking, it may be a fungus like ringworm. This also needs to be treated ASAP by a vet. http://guinealynx.info/fungus.html... My pig's ringworm was more white and scaly than the pic on that site, but it common starts around the eyes.
Either way, your pig needs a vet ASAP.
I think your piggy is having a viral infection.Please go to the vet since it may progress into a more complicated form...
I agree! You need to find a vet experienced with Guinea pigs. Baytril or bactrim, is fine for an antibiotic, but if they prescribe you amoxycillin or penicillin do not take it and go to another vet!! This will kill your piggie so it is very important to find a vet who knows what they are doing when it comes to guinea pigs.
