How can I keep my PEW male from getting orange from buck oil?

Other than bathing him.

Is there any special needs that a PEW has? I did reading but I was getting different information from each place so I'm all confused.

Anything else that I should know?

The more macho your buck is, the more Buck Grease he will have. The production of Buck Grease is associated with his testosterone hormone level. Short of getting him neutered to drop the hormone level there's not much we can do about it. It's unsightly, but harmless.

A bath with Dawn dish soap (because it cuts the grease like the commercial says) once a month is what most Rat-keepers do to keep the production down. It's because he is a PEW that it is showing up so much in his white coat.

The only special care needed for PEWs is knowing that they will easily sunburn if they are outside. Their pink eyes are more sensitive to bright light and even in the light of a room some rat-keepers report that their PEWs keep their eye-lids at half-mast, like they are squinting. Some rat-keepers even go so far as keeping their rats in low light rooms.

Porphyrin shows up more on their white coat, looks like blood to the uniniciated. His coat could tinge yellow with age. A bluing shampoo for dogs helps to whiten it again, but if you use Dawn for the buck grease that will also solve the yellow problem as well.
