Please help im very scared 4 my guinea pig :(
Tick are parasites a bit like fleas, but big enough to see them. They have a huge abdomen (belly) and a very small head. They attach to animals and slowly drink their blood. An attached tick looks like a small (grey) wart (fly egg?), and they grow bigger as they fill with blood.
I know, it sounds gross, but it's not that dangerous. (of course it may carry disease, just like a mosquito, but you should not worry that much).
If it is indeed a tick, all you gotta do is take a kleenex, firmly grab it between your nails (as it is attached solidly) and pull. It should come off with a small ripping sound (also a bit gross), but your pet should be okay. Tough, verify if the head is not still in place; the tick could regrow. (tick are awful, aren't they?) Then proceed to dispose of the kleenex. ^^"
From what i've heard, animal ticks don't attach on humans so don't be scared.
Of course, I only experienced cat tick, no guinea pig...
And I don't know if it is a tick at all.
But if it's the case, I hope this helps.
And, if you feel like needing more information, there's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/tick... . I don't feel like reading it, but do if you feel like!
Good luck, and I hope your guinea pig ends well!
A vet can check weather or not the bump is a cancerous tumor, a benign cyst or what. I would pay the 50 to 60 dollars the average vet visit costs and have them determine what the thing is. My pig has a cyst and the vet found it to be a benign thing that wasn't causing him any pain and so we are waiting to see what happens and if it would be worth the risk of removing it.
