Please help me urgently my guinea pig got water in his lungs while i was handfeeding it2007-11-24 22:14:35

Please help me all vet clincs are closed tomorow (national holiday) please any experience person tell me what to do he seems to breath difficultly, he is 2 months old please please tell me what to do urgently.

try to get it to an emergency vet or something asap. if not, i have a guinea pig book that says when baby guinea pigs get milk in their lungs, and their breathing is laboured and there is clicking in the lungs to : 'lay the guinea pig against your chest, head down. very soon it will begin to struggle and obviously get stressed but it is this stress that is part of the therapy, helping it to breathe more heavily and cough up the fluid. do this several times, even if the clicking stops right away, to ensure that the lungs are completely clear.' you may have to try this. and the author knows what he is doing - he owns SEVENTY guinea pigs!! good luck, whatever you do.

why was you feeding it?they can feed theirselves from birth??vets have emergency surgery on holidays you just pay emergency prices so go see a vet

take him to an emergency animal hospital. they should be able to vacuum out the excess fluids and get your piggie back to normal breathing.
