Please help me with my guinea pig
My guinea pig is a girl named Cinnamon, i just got her yesterday from PetClub and she won't move or eat, but last night i layed some timothy hay down, and in the morning most of it was gone. What should I do? She is also not drinking water or eating her Vitamin C fortified pellets. Please help.
Answers:She is eating if the hay was gone overnight. Try laying some wet veggies, like a carrot, romaine lettuce, parsley, in her cage and then leave her alone for a while. She's going to be scared, she isn't used to your noises and her new home. She does need to eat and drink, but may be too scared to right now. Watch her from afar today. I bet things improve.
If you bought her from a pet store, you should get her to a vet. Most pet store pigs are sold sick.
she is probobly just a little freaked out from the move. If you are really worried about her, give her some carrots, they provide both the food and water she needs. If she does not gobble them up immediatley then I would be worried. So call the vet if her non eating and drinking is continuing. Also if you are feeding her different food then the pet store was, she will probobly not want to eat it. You should contact them to see what kind she was getting.
Take her to the vet. Even if she's not really that sick, the lack of eating and especially no drinking could kill her, and quickly too. Find the nearest Exotic veterinarian and get her there. Also, was she acting that way when you bought her, or did it just start?
she is probably freaked out a little from the move, the hay not being there in the morning is a good thing that means she ate it. drop some baby carrots in her cage and leave the room. Carrots have the vit c she needs and water shes probably scared too eat in front of u but will eat alone does she have a hut to hide in? Give her a few more days just make sure that shes eating and she has carrots and timothy hay dont sit there and watch her just check on her a few times a day
I would get her into a vet. Guinea pigs can get sick and go down hill quickly. Also you need to be giving her fresh fruits and veggies. Green, red, yellow Bell peppers are great for giving them the vitamin C they need. Romaine, red leaf & green leaf lettuce, never give them ice burg lettuce. She could also be adjusting to her new home. Here is a wonderful website that can give you great info:
