Please help my guinea pigs are fighting2007-11-24 22:14:36

If you do have to seperate them, you can still make their cages side by side. That way they can communicate, touch noses, ans lay beside one another without invading the other's territory.

Most guinea pig pairs will get into scraps occasionally, much like two brothers/sisters do. If the fights get really bad, throw a towel over the two of them. It will confuse them and they will stop fighting. But if at any time blood is shed because of a fight, they will have to be separated permanently after that. Most male guinea pigs will be territorial at one time or another, so small fights are normal.

If you have to separate them, you can put their two cages side by side so they can still interact. They usually get along fine this way. And most guinea pigs will not fight if you let them out on the floor to play every day. Your piggies can still interact and get along, just maybe not in the same cage.

Good luck, and I hope they don't have to be separated.

Don't separate them. They are adolescent pigs and need to work out their dominance issues. Since they get along most of the time it seems they are just being 'teenagers'. If you separate them now they'll just have to go through the whole thing again when they're put back together, it'll never end.

Make sure they have a large enough cage and two of everything (food bowls, hidey houses) to help placate them.

my guinea pigs used to do that..but after a while they stop..as long as they aren't hurting each other...you shouldn't seperate them . They will get used to each other. I also did something to help them get along. I bought to hidey houses, 2 food bowls,2 water bowls and 2 of everything else except cages.
Buy a second cage immeadiatly and put one of them in it... and it's not really good to have two of

the same gender...had two birds, lets just say we have one bird now!

Pop Corning is a good thing. They just means they are happy. Buy a cage divider (or make one) and split the cage into 2 halves to get them used to each other.(Leave it in for about 1-2 weeks)Male pigs often bicker, but its nothing to be alarmed of unless there's blood and it go on continously.
NEVER EVER HAVE TWO MALES.You can only have a m/f or f/f. When they get older they will fight more.
