Plz help asap i am worried2007-11-24 22:14:16

i got a gerbil about 3 days ago and he was fine and running on his wheel and very active, and today i was playing with him and he ran really fast out of my hands and dropped in his cage. i think he might of landed on his feet but i am not sure. and now all he does is sleep and eat. he is usually on his wheel at this time and runs on it all night! but he is just curled up in his house sleeping. what is wrong? is he ok or is he just really tired?

Could be he has internal injuries, so he doesn't want to do anything but eat and sleep. If he doesn't look like he's in any pain, looks happy, maybe that's not the case.

I would suggest calling the vet and asking their advice. You might want to bring him in just for an exam (usually about $25 for a small animal). It's up to you to decide whether it's worth spending lots more just for a gerbil (if they want to get tests/xrays/etc.. done.) If he's worth it to you though, go for it.

HI! I would say that he sounds fine, but you might want to get him checked so maybe wait two or three before taking him to a vet, but i think he is just being lazy, he is an animal. Maybe try to play with him if he doesn't respond, you should take him to a vet as soon as possible.

my gerbil was like that to. he started getting a routine that he would sleep all day and run in his wheel all day. i'm guessing he was running on his wheel all day and is starting to get in his reg. routine

maybe u shocked him lol... give him lots of attention.. if he doesnt seem better take him to the vet. theyll know whats wrong right away. hope hes ok

if he is eating and drinking ok , I would just leave him to sleep. See if hes better in a day or two. If he has trouble walking then you might get him checked at the vet.
