Poll: How often do you change or clean your hamsters bedding2007-11-24 22:14:18

I know a lot of people say only once a week, but for me even after a few days I want to change the bedding! Am I being excessive or a neat freak?

Answers:

I at least clean it every week.When I have time I'll clean it mid week because they do start to stink. I have two hamster cages, two gerbil cages, and a chinchilla cage all in one room...so cleaning is DEFINITELY a must and often. Also, the more you clean their cages the less chance there is for your hammy to get wet tail, which is devastating.

It's good that you clean it more than once a week though I don't think more than twice would be needed. :) A lot of people don't clean theirs until it gets raunchy and I'm like wth?! There is a LIVING creature in there!!

one of my hammies is litter trained and his cage doesn't look or smell bad so I clean it once or twice a week---my other hammie is messy with his food and he potties wherever he wants so I clean his cage two or three times a week

I CLEAN MY HAMSTERS BEDDIGN EVERY 3 OR 4 DAYS SO HE DOESN'T STINK. I WOULD NOT WANT TO BE IN A 10 GALLON TANK FOR A WEEK WITH STINKY BEDDING.

No, I use to change mine every 3 days. It just means that you really care about your hamsters and want them to be in the best environment you can provide them. Changing bedding twice a week is perfectly normal =)

I clean every 4 days, because they actualy have to sit in and lay in their urine. NO you are not be a neat freak it is very healthy for the animal.
