Possible to keep guinea pig happy in a play pen type cage that is 6 ft
my friend bought a piggy and is now in a 10 gallon tank and is doin fine but she only has one.i told her a huge play pen type cage like she has will be perfect and what not.but she thinks the piggy will climb is and i told her they dont like to climb.i think 6ft will be good for a piggy like her and even another piggy in the future for a play mate, right??does a piggy cage need a top because it is high enough for the piggy to not get out.she does not have alot of money but she has chews and water and hideing places and everything.i believe this is a great idea and her piggy will have fun but give me and her a second opion to make sure because she has lots so many pets in her life and most of them didnt like her but her piggy blondey does.so help us out.any tips for keeping a single piggy happy ??ty.she is trying her hardest and will do anything for her piggy=).i have 2 and i would of taken her in but i cant cause mine are males lol ^-^鈾?ty
Answers:If she's going to get a friend to live with, she needs to get one ASAP. If she's too much older, she'll get very attached to the owner, and probably bully another piggy. And yes a playmate would be a good option for keeping her amused, guinea pigs love attention form other piggies and humans.
Other than that.. simple things. I've never found a piggy who likes these high tech guinea pig toys. Ours used to love playing in wood shavings. Wooden, cardboard and plastic tunnels will keep her amused for a while. Piggies also like sunbathing, so if she can be taken outside, all the better. For outside use in the playpen, some chicken wire placed over the top with a couple of bricks will leave her safe from outside forces, and guinea pigs don't tend to be climbers. Always provide shade though, plastic igloo houses work for play time, but will probably need replacing every year, most guinea pigs will chew anything plastic.
The tank is no good at all!
