Potty training guinea pigs
my music teacher told me that she potty trained her guinea pig. how does a person successfully do this? i am adopting a guinea pig from a friend who doesn't care for it, and he probably will have to relearn social skills first and get used to people. i am used to all types of rodents and animals but piggies are new to me. i have potty trained my dog, idk how different it is. any tips?

Answers:Hi cool that youre adopting piggies. There are two ways which are successful to train guinea pigs and rabbits how to use the potty. You either find the corner were they go to the bathroom (not every guinea pigs chose a corner) and put the litterbox there. If it doesnt work and they chose another corner, there is another way, this is how i taught my rabbit. You take a few feces and put them into the litterbox along with bedding visible for the guinea pig then they automatically go to the bathroom there.

You teach it to use a litter box much like a cat does.
Either that or find it a doll house with a bathroom. Just make sure you keep lot's of toliet paper on hand,. They hate it when they can't wipe.
You can't. they are like any other rodent. they go when and where they feel like it, thats why they are kept in cages with litter on the bottom. the cage also stinks especially in the summer. My husband and I had one last year and the smell
