Pregnant rat in heat2007-11-24 22:14:39

Is it possible for a pregnant rat to come into heat at any stage? I'm pretty sure it isn't but I was also 95% sure my doe was in the last stage of pregnancy based on many factors. Today she was out with a buck and began wiggling her ears after a while, she isn't arching her back and he isn't mounting her but she is being very jumpy and looks as though she is in heat :(

They are back in seperate cages now but I just want to know if it's possible for a pregnant doe to come into heat?

Answers:

She may be stimulated to act as though she were on heat, but it is medically impossible for her to be mated with. The same way does sharing a cage will mount each other during a cycle. Im sure shes just excited about the buck.

I apologize, I don't have much experience with rats, but I do know that with other species it is very unlikely if not impossible for a female to be in heat at the same time that she is pregnant. Congrats on the soon to be babies ^_^
