Problem with Dwarf Hamsters
I Have 2 dwarf hamsters the lady said they were both girls. They got along pretty good now one of them is nasty to the other one sqeaking when the other one goes near it. I also noticed one of them chasing the other one trying to get on top of it? Does this mean she was wrong and there the oppisite sex. I think im going to seperate them today.
Answers:they are probably the other sex b/c the one that is chasing the other is a boy and they are trying to mate. alot of times the person who gives them to you is wrong that's why i check them myself before buying the hamster. yes you should of have or else you would have alot of hammies running around. you should buy a female and check it yourself if you dont go here

i think there just playin around.. hamters do that..you could separate them but i think they would be happier together.
all hamsters are solitary animals
contrary to popular belief...all hamsters, even dwarf hamsters, need to be kept in separate cages after they reach a certain age otherwise they will fight to the death
I got a couple hamsters from petland a while back and the workers there told us to have two fancy hamsters in the same cage, not knowing any better we listened to them (they even had a two for the price of one sale on hamsters!) later on we noticed problems and decided to do some research...after reading a few books and calling the exotic animal vet in the next town over we found out that all hamsters need separate cages once they reach sexual maturity...the workers at petco knew this and told us so when we bought a dwarf and a european there last January...separate them and keep them separated
I have two dwarf hamsters (females) and they hate each other! We ended up seperating them since one of them drew blood on the other one's eye! It was VERY Scary! But, I guess these things happen. you must seperate them now! They can kill one another if you don't do it now! Please. Thank you!
It's probably best if you seperate them and/or get both of them spayed/neutered.
