Question about rabbits and hamsters2007-11-24 22:14:42

Hi there!,

My real question is should i get a rabbit?, cause every time one of my hamsters die, we replace it (Or get a new one in other words) and name is the same, but if i get a rabbit i will never be able to replace it...should i get a rabbit?

Hi,

I think that getting a rabbit is your choice, although there are a few things to think about first!

Rabbits are more difficult to look after that hamsters, and require more attention.

They are also much bigger (depending on the breed) and therefore take up a lot more room!

Your rabbit will most probably need a run outside, so you need to have a relatively good sized garden.

Also, I would recommend that you buy guinea pigs! They do not scratch as much and are much more docile, and they don't mind sitting and being stroked for a long time! You would need to get more than one though, as they tend to get lonely on their own!

rabits are more work but i have a hamster ive had for almost 2 years just make sure they have food and water all the time and remember to clean there cage once in a while

If you feel so bad about losing a pet that you essentially have to get a new, identical one right away and act like it's the same pet, I would not suggest you get any animal. Death is sad, but it's a part of life and everyone needs to learn to cope with it sometime. Most people believe that, as bad as they feel when a beloved animal dies, the joy pets being is worth the heartache when they leave. These people do not get new animals to replace the old ones, but to start a new relationship with a different individual animal.
