Quick chinchilla help
i am very familiar with all sorts of small animals but nothing but book smart when it comes to chinchillas
here is my story.
a science teacher left 2 chinchillas in their room over the summer (this is my church's private school), and my dad asked me to take care of them. i know all their survival needs since i did quite a bit of reasearch on them a while ago, but i dont know about their social needs. any quick tips would be great, and i will probably move them to my house if i can get the science teacher's promission. any tips on what kind of love they need would be great, thanks in advance
Answers:They are very skiddish (shy and nervous) until they get to know you. Handle them carefully and they will get used to you soon enough. If you are going to take them out of their cage then keep them in an enclosed area so they can't take off and hide somewhere because they will and you might never find them. They are so small. I know you know how to care for them so I don't need to tell you that. Do you know how a Guinea Pig is kinda jumpy when they first get handled? Well that is how a Chinchila is going to act at first then after they get to know your scent and that you aren't going to hurt them they will warm up and be fun to take care of, I love how soft they are don't you?
hi i have 15 chinchillas in the summer you have to keep them under 22oc as they are very vonerable to the heat as it can kill them.
