Sure you can pick them up, they're not too fragile to pick up. They say to pick them up by the base of the tail, but I don't like that, it doesn't seem like it would be comfortable for the chin. I usually scoop mine up and then hold it against my chest. Alot of chinchillas don't like to be held though, mine don't, I'm lucky if I get to hold mine for a minute or more. And I recommend sitting while you hold it, just in case it gets out of your hands, you don't want him falling five feet to the floor. You could also offer it a raisin or two while you're holding it. If your chinchilla is like my Lily, then it will love you forever if you do that! :)

heck yes you can pick them up. They are like bunnies.

As long as you don't squeeze them they will be fine.

awww. if you feel so much for your pet i'm sure you'll do a great job looking after it. i don't know much about chinchilla's but i'm sure they'll cope with being picked up as long as you are gentle with them.
you can easily catch a chinchilla and pick it up, but youd be better starting sitting on the floor, let them run around and eventually thyll come and sit on you, if they dont come get some monkey nuts- that usually does the trick.

you can pick them up most people say to do it by the base of the tail but mine really dont like that, if youre gonna pick it up like a rabbit be really gentle. one tip, dont aim for where the chinchilla is, aim for where its going to go! mine always go over my hands so i aim a bit higher , gets them every time. if you have to chase it dont pick it up , it will remember!

chinchillas LOVE beign held and petted! they are a little delicate, so you have to be careful not to hold them too hard, especially sround their stomach. you should enver grab them by the tail, because it can pull off and won't grow back.

scoop the chinchilla up from the sides and it's stomach and hold it close to you. scratch it's ears, back, and tummy. tehy're usually very friendly and will enjoy the contact.

Yes, you can pick up a chinchilla. Most chinchillas aren't much for sitting still and being held, but if you sit down on the floor and let it run around, it will love being petted by you. But yes, its fine to pick them up to take them out of their cage or whatever, just be gentle like you would with any small animal.
