Rabbit and peanut butter2007-11-24 22:14:22

is peanut butter ok for rabbits (in small amounts)?

Answers:

No I dont think they should eat it. Check the link below to see why. Not only that but peanut butter has oil in it + is fattening if your pet eats too much.

There are other more nutritious food for them to eat. I have a wonderful culture of weeds growing in my neighborhood, yard that I pick for a Winter snack for my 8 rabbits. Non-chemical treated.

They can eat

> chickweed

> dandelion greens + the flowers

> shepherds purse

> dill - the entire plant good for their digestive system. Priority to rabbit owners.

> yellow flowered yarrow

> I peel carrot skins off + put in bowl to dry for them

> fruit fed occasionally + salty foods hardly ever.

I have a container that I crunch + mix all these treats + feed them once a day with it during the winter, along with hay + pellets. I can't find these weeds/plants outside in the snow. lol. And my rabbits love them !

Because of rbts fear factor, they can develope high blood pressure, heart ailments, diabetes as well, so you should follow a diet for humans that have these health problems.

It also depends on if my rabbits are eating properly. Then I feed them just about anything - rbt safe >! !<

lets just stick to fruits and veggies. pb will get stuck to their roof of their mouth and will become mold.
I wouldn't think so..
feed them light bread.
I would stay safe and say no. Because it could get stuck in there mouth and choke.
dont feed him just peanut butter. put it on something like celery. they like that. even then dont put too much. they could choke. and too much gives them gas and they have no way to let out that gas so they could die. and i dont think u want him to die
No, rabbits should not have peanut butter.

There are plenty of other treats that rabbits can get such as carrots, raisins, or bananas. All in small amounts of course.
