i have a female mini lop eared rabbit and i bred it whith an angora rabbit who is of course a male. and its been a long while since they did it and it looked like she was pregnant a week ago now she doesint and all this time shes been in a cage. was it just an incompatible breeding that it just didint work, there breeds where to different? or what?
Answers:Exactly how long has it been? How old are both rabbits? Did you palpate for pregnancy (do you know how)? Is the male bigger than the female (higher chance of birth complications)?
By the way, rabbits don't normally show visible signs of being pregnant. Aside from making a nest, that is.
Rabbits give birth after about 30 days. It's important to know whether or not she is actually carrying kits because sometimes there are problems with kits getting stuck inside the mom, causing lots of pain and possibly infection and death if not properly treated.
Do you have a rabbit savvy vet or an experienced (!) breeder of show rabbits who could help you?
Also, why were you cross breeding? It is very hard to find homes for purebred rabbits, much less crossbreds. Especially since crossbred rabbits often look more like "mutts" than they look like their parents. Every breeding needs to be chosen carefully for it's purpose, with the genetics taken into account so you can breed for babies that look a certain way. Anything less is useless and possibly harmful for the rabbits.
