Rat Bleeding Has she lost her babies, or is something else causing this
Ok, about 5 days ago, i rescued 13 rats from a place that was selling them as food... It is obvious that they just had all males and females in together at the place they came from as well... I have no doubt that they were feeder breeders...
Charlotte... One little baby girl gave birth to her babies two days ago... The other one of the three does still looks chunky-ish around the middle, and i am pretty sure she is expecting... But the third one... The daughter of the still pregnant one, didn't have much of a tummy yet, she wasn't showing any signs of being pregnant yet, but after being in the cage with boys for two weeks, i think she is, or at least was.
I have just been giving her a cuddle, and noticed that she has blood coming from her vaginal hole...
Seeing as she is quite a young rat, and she wasn't showing any real signs of pregnancy, i was thinking that maybe the blood is from loosing the babies...
Has anyone had this happen in the past when they lost rat babies?
Answers:Figment, blood-spotting is the first sign that she has gone into labour!! Get her settled into her nursing cage now, and put that cage in a dark quiet place and let her be. A normal birthing should be over with the last pup born within the hour that labor started.
Keep in touch spazrats@yahoo.ca I'll keep my e-mail box open to hear from you.
Edit:
Figment, talk to me, how's it going???
Update: As of the last 3/4 hour Figment and I went to private conversation. We have the situation well in hand.
