Im looking to getting a new cage for my 2 ratty boys, they are 3 months old, and although the cage they have is big enough for them, I have some extra moneey to spend and was wondering what was the best kind to get? Ive seen a great one in Pets at home and was wondering if I should just go for it, or any anyone suggest another kind round about this price?

Yes. I own ratties too! You have the right idea with the different levels and ladders, and the bar size is good (in case you were ever to decide to breed later). Rats don't seem that into tubes, though. And maybe a little bigger for two boys, they like their space!

I've found that the less stuff you put in there that's big (like boxes) the happier they are. They would rather climb the bars and run back and forth on the bottom than nest a lot, that's for females.

The deeper the dish part, the better, because they will try their hardest to kick shavings-covered poo all over your walls, but also slide-out bottoms DON'T work because of the shifting shavings. The best cage I ever owned was one like this picture: http://www.spoiledratten.com/cagepics.ht...

I got mine at PetsMart, but you may have to go to the internet if you live elswhere. Good luck! = )

when we had our rats we used a large fisk tank (1m x 0.4m x 0.5m) and had a wooden frame + mesh lid to it. looked far nicer than any cage and they couldnt flick any sawdust out of it.
Rat cages are SOOO overpriced. DON'T buy one from a pet store.
