Rat Cages
I'm looking for a relatively large rat cage for 3 male rats. I checked out Petco, PetSmart, and a few other pet stores and couldn't find any (they were all kinda small). Does anybody have any ideas? Price really isn't an option. I just want a nice large, sturdy cage.
Answers:...three males in one cage, tell my how that turns out! HAHAHAHA
Ummm, alot of people I knwo put there rats in aquariums. LIke a black rat in a 10 gallon, and some1 has two rats in 15 gallon. So I'm sure if u got a 20 gallon it would work.
put some wooden play things, food/water bowls, or your water dispenser thing.
a good wheel and wat ever else u want there.
It shoudl work...dont crowd it too much though.
or if u want a wire cage...you can find a good Sugerglider cage...I have one that fits my cockatiel perfectly fine and leaves it room to jump, and fla and fly. so I'm sure that three rats could fit fine in there.
I got it at a local store...but do u have a feeders supply around there? If not u can find there site and order it off there or "E-town Family Pets" site. :)
ALso, wire hamster cages, and bird cages you can take one end off, or the top off, theey can conenct together :)
If price isn't a problem, then go and buy a superduper large cage made for ferrets or iguanas. The spacing will be too large, but you can use a thin gauge metal wire ) and twist tie small mesh chicken wire fencing (not larger than 1/4" to be safe) to the top and sides of the cage. This offers excellent ventilation, and they often come with ramps and levels in them (the wide spacing doesn't matter as much with the ramps as rats are very agile).
