do they even sell rat hanesses and would they be worth the buy?
Answers:I dont think it'd be worth it. I cant imagine that your rat would be too thrilled getting put into one of those, and you might end up hurting it. It'd probably irritate it, ..and plus rats chew everything so you'd probably spend way too much money on one only to have it chewed up in 3 minutes.
I don't think they would be worth the buy. Rats would probably struggle to get the harness off and probably injure themselves badly. The same goes for other rodents.
If you want to give him a bit of freedom outside the cage, perhaps not a harness but a toy ... We had a gerbil that loved to run around in an exercise ball. It was a plastic ball that had a little doorway to let the rat get inside, then he would run like he was on the exercise wheel and it would roll the ball all over the house and in the yard on the lawn.
i have rat harnesses for my 2 pet rats, and they like the harnesses.
but i think it depends on your rat, some rats like them, and some don't.

I was wrong! I couldnt even get the harness on my rat. She struggled to get it off. It was such a worthless buy. Don't get it!
They make them. I've never used one. I guess it depends on the rat. I know some rats allow themselves to be dressed up and such. I can't imagine my rats would stand for it. I just let mine run in a safe area of the house, and I keep an eye on them because sometimes they find things to get into even where I think they're safe. My rats are terrified of the exercise ball. It seemed like a good idea, My hamster loves hers. My rats do not. But hey, rats are individuals. You never know what yours will enjoy. I'm just concerned any harness a rat couldn't slip out of would be way too tight. Rats can squish out of almost anything.
I bought a harness for mine and she didn't like it at all. She just struggled until she got it off.
